O Virginia ,

Is there a part of your heart

For a wounded love ?

Still the light shines brightly ,

In the background ,

Over your mountains ,
Are your pains red ?

Do you lead yet your visitors

To a kind of earthly paradise

You named Monticello ?

Where the lover's demise ,

Virginia ,

Is a sunrise !

I remember the first time

Like old friends ,

Did you forget

My opened hands ,

O Virginia ?...

Are you really a dream ?

I wanted to feel it so much ,

The colours of your skies ,

The blue of your smiles ,

Virginia !...

My life is a fading trace

Of a cloud in your eyes ,

And I went away so far ,

Tried only to play the game

Of the hard war

Knowing no one ,

To be on a par ...

I 'm in no way to blame

If I can't stop thinkin '

Of your hair

You wear so fair ,

And the wind echoin '

The voice of your streams

Reminds me of her

Virginia ...

Is there a small place

In your homeland ,

Where I 'll come

In the End ?...
